I just mentioned, he menti- — he met with his national security team dozens of time. He did multiple calls with heads of states, trying to make sure that we got the support, continued that support, organized support of — of other allies and partners across — across the world. And we put out a statement as well — a joint statement from those — from those allies and partners. As Karine just said, the President has been deeply engaged and giving direction to his national security team to take action to support Israel in its hour of need. President Biden and Vice President Harris continue to meet with the national security team to receive updates and give direction on next steps.

Jean-Pierre was a lettered track-and-field athlete during her days at Long Island’s Kellenberg High School. In her memoir, Jean-Pierre describes herself as “a standout cross country runner, setting records on Long Island,” adding that she was offered track scholarships but chose to focus on academics instead. Nonetheless, she still ran on the track team at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, where she graduated in 1997. She later graduated from Columbia University in 2003. Trump selling Bibles 'offends the message of the Gospels'
And unions themselves have labeled him as — you hear us say this all the time — the most pro-union president. But, again, we are encouraging — we are going to continue to encourage folks to be updated on their vaccine. But, again, the CDC has a — has laid out ways for folks to — for schools and — and families to move forward if they have concerns. As — as it relates to what the President said, I just don’t have anything to add at this time.

The President will speak with veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors to discuss the historic expansion of benefits and services resulting from the Bipartisan PACT Act. I anticipate a preview with more details will be shared ahead of the event, so please stay tuned to that. One last thing before we — well, I say we really take questions is I want to take a — give you guys a little bit of the week ahead. The Biden-Harris administration plans to commit at least $55 billion in Africa over the next three years, working closely with Congress. And more than $15 billion in private sector investment deals were announced at the U.S.-Africa Business Forum.
And we’re working day in, day out to ensure all of them also are able to get safely home to their loved ones. Opt in to send and receive text messages from President Biden. We'll be in touch with the latest information on how President Biden and his administration are working for the American people, as well as ways you can get involved and help our country build back better. Karine Jean-Pierre is currently the Principal Deputy Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant to the President. Karine is a long-time advisor to President Biden, having served in senior communication and political roles in the Biden Administration, the Biden campaign, and to then-Vice President Biden in the Obama Administration. And so it is something that the President has been working on since day one of his administration.

And we understand once that — once that pause is lifted, there’s still going to be people who are going to have a difficult time. And so, we’re — just because we’re in a different phase of the pandemic, as the President has said, COVID is still a problem. And so — and so that’s how we came to that decision to move forward with our assessment on how we’re going to provide that student relief to middle-class Americans. When he came into the office, clearly, there were people — Americans who were — who were, you know, having a hard time dealing with the economic situation that the pandemic was causing, right? And we had the former administration who mishandled the COVID — the CO- — the reaction to COVID, how we would move forward out of COVID.
Moreover, term limits would cut the pressure presidents feel to pick young ideologues for the court or to select only judges with similar pedigrees. More people of more varying experience would be considered to serve. Supreme Court precedent would be less likely to reflect the idiosyncratic preferences of one or two justices.

Because a lot of this — people are saying are stemming from a lot of this rhetoric. Earlier today, the President spoke to Governor DeSantis and told him he quickly approved the emergency declaration for Florida. The President also expressed the administration’s full commitment and support to Florida.

And so, I’m not going to get ahead of the agenda. I’m not going to get ahead of a conversation. But certainly, this is not something that the President — when it comes to human rights, it’s not something that the President shies away from and bring — he certainly brings that up. And we’re going to assist — we’re going to assist the Afghanistan — Afghan people as much as we can — right? And that has been our commitment — our commitment — not just the last two years, certainly, for the past few decades. A couple of weeks ago, some members of Congress — it was over 50 Republicans and Democrats — they sent a letter to the administration asking for help with H-1B workers and the backlog.
And that’s true of Democrats, it’s true of Republicans, it’s true of independents. And that’s what’s shown through in the votes, both in the House and the 79-vote aye vote outcome we saw in the Senate last night. Prior to her work with Harris during the 2020 election and with the Biden–Harris administration, Jean-Pierre was the senior advisor and national spokeswoman for the progressive advocacy group MoveOn.org.
We’re looking to acquire further intelligence. And if there’s an update to that, I’ll share it with you. Nearly a dozen Democrats and those working closely with the White House said they are unaware of the alleged plan to oust Jean-Pierre, according to the Post. These sources agreed Dunn does not appear to dislike or hold any hard feelings toward the press secretary.
We think it is a good capability in this phase of the conflict for Ukraine, and we will stand behind that four-square. So, we think it’s good that we’re able to provide them, but I don’t expect to stand before you and say one capability has — has been the silver bullet in this conflict. Russia is going to continue to press its attacks against Ukrainian defenses. But for the reasons that I have laid out, over time, we assess that Ukraine’s position in this conflict will improve, and we believe that Ukraine can and will win.
We sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience. In terms of hospital strain, this is something we monitor very, very closely. We look at a whole bunch of national data every day. We are talking to states and jurisdictions every day — not every state and every jurisdiction every day, but on an ongoing basis. The administration has been — has been planning for this moment. But the bottom line is we need other leaders to step up as well — governors, mayors, people who have been terrific partners throughout this entire pandemic.
